WHAT TO READ FOR HAPPINESS DAY

Hola amigos!

This Saturday March 20  is  International Day of Happiness, so today I wanted to share the “made me feel good!” books I read and the ones I plan to read next.

“Beginning only in 2013, the UN has observed 20 March as the “International Day of Happiness”, or just “Happiness Day” for short. And it was a happy occasion when the resolution establishing this observance passed unanimously – even with 193 different nations voting.

The philosophy behind the day is that the “pursuit of happiness” is a basic human right and goal. And there is also the basic assumption that, in order to promote world happiness, initiatives should be undertaken to eradicate poverty, establish equality, and protect the environment. These goals are pursued through “sustainable development” efforts of the UN, of member states, and of humanitarian organisations.

On and leading up to “World Happiness Day”, there is special media attention given to happiness and what promotes it or hinders it, special fundraising campaigns, and events focused on human happiness and the desire to spread it among all of earth’s peoples.” [source]

WHAT IS A “FEEL GOOD” BOOK?

Books that make me “feel good” are not necessarily those that make me happy but books that make me “feel” strong feelings and emotions and give me  hope. They aren’t those with fortunate and happy characters or situations, not even with happy endings, but those where unfortunate circumstances are overcome thanks to the characters’ ingenuity, courage and resilience or the kindness and support of others. Books that make me “feel good” are those that show that we can be better humans.

These  are the “made me feel good” books I’ve read. If you click on the covers it will take you to my review on Goodreads:
