WORLD CANCER DAY READS
Today is World Cancer Day so I wanted to share my favorite reads about this topic and what I’ll like to read next.
“The purpose of the day is to raise public awareness over the suffering and death toll due to cancer throughout the world. Both prevention of and a cure for cancer are research goals that World Cancer Day efforts are meant to promote.
With some nine million people dying every year worldwide due to various forms of cancer, and half of these dying well under the normal life expectancy for their region, cancer is truly a global scourge that needs our attention.
During and leading up to World Cancer Day, media focus on cancer issues in many countries, and there are increased educational a – nd governmental efforts to curb it and to cure it.” – Global Observances
This is definitely a tough topic to read but for the same reason these books can provide a memorable and powerful experience. For instance, these two books are among the best books I’ve read and I can’t recommend them enough!
A Monster Calls and The Art of Racing in the Rain broke my heart in a million pieces so the books I’ll like to read next have been on my TBR for a while waiting for me to be in the right mood and state of mind to read them:
Three of these books are also fantastic screen adaptations! I haven’t gathered the courage to watch A Monster Calls yet but I did watch The Fault in Our Stars and The Art of Racing in the Rain. I needed an entire box of tissues but I would say they are definitely “MUST WATCH”s!
Enjoy the trailers!
Have you read or watched any of these books and movies? What did you think of them? Is cancer a tough topic for you as well? What are your favorite books and movies about cancer? Let me know in the comments!
