Galaxy “Alex” Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class.
Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug-dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. In fact, by age twenty, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most prestigious universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her? (see more)

OH WELL, ALL THE HYPE WAS TRUE! THIS BOOK IS ALL KIND OF AWESOME!

If you like dark academia vibes and crime investigations mixed with paranormal elements like the occult, ghosts, afterlife mythology, ancient rites and rituals, vortices of magic, hidden passages, portals to other realities and “escape room” type of mysteries where there are puzzles to be solved, clues to be found to reveal the next secret and move to the next level…

This book is for you!

Just make sure to read it when you willing to take your time. “Ninth House” is almost five hundred pages and the plot moves slooooow, since there is A LOT of the world and the characters that need to develop.

BUT, I PROMISE you will never be bored!

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because I didn’t care for the alternative timeline and the fact that one of the main characters, Darlington, is never really present in the story and we only learn about him through backstories. So, I never fully connected with him and cared about his relationship with Alex.

Other than that, this was a perfect spooky, creepy, slow-burn paranormal mystery.

Can’t recommend this book enough!
