TOP 20 BOOKS ABOUT LIBRARIES, BOOKS AND BOOK LOVERS- NATIONAL LIBRARY LOVER’S MONTH

February is NATIONAL LIBRARY LOVER’S MONTH and February 14 is LIBRARY LOVERS’ DAY “dedicated to the people who love whole buildings devoted to reading, housing, organizing, categorizing, finding, studying, and otherwise loving books.

HISTORY OF LIBRARY LOVERS’ DAY

Library Lovers’ Day was initially started in Australia in 2006 by the State Library of New South Wales (NSW). The day became a national holiday in 2007 when the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) joined in on the campaign to promote their passion for books. Though the aim was to raise awareness regarding the services some great libraries offer, the day soon became one that provided solace to those who were ‘dateless’ on V-Day.

Today, Library Lover’s Day is celebrated internationally with a new theme every year! For instance, in 2018 Bond University’s John & Alison Kearney Library went all out and celebrated the day with a flashy display of a vintage typewriter, pens, and paper. The items were placed so visitors could write love letters to a special someone or their favorite library.

The Shadow of the Wind

ADULT  | HISTORICAL | FICTION MAGICAL REALISM MYSTERY
Barcelona, 1945: A city slowly heals from its war wounds, and Daniel, an antiquarian book dealer’s son who mourns the loss of his mother, finds solace in a mysterious book entitled The Shadow of the Wind, by one Julian Carax. But when he sets out to find the author’s other works, he makes a shocking discovery: someone has been systematically destroying every copy of every book Carax has written. In fact, Daniel may have the last of Carax’s books in existence. Soon Daniel’s seemingly innocent quest opens a door into one of Barcelona’s darkest secrets–an epic story of murder, madness, and doomed love.
This is the second book featured on my “ALL-TIME FAVORITES”. As everyone that ever tried to rank the books they read that was a hard decision. It could have very well been THE BEST BOOK I’ve ever read! So close! I was SO enraptured by this book I HAD to stop and go check on Goodreads WTH I was reading! I was like… WHAT IS THIS BOOK? Is this historical fiction? Historical fantasy? Historical mystery? Magical Realism? WHAT IS THIS BOOK? That’s how I learned about Metafiction. That change my reader life forever. Besides being totally unique and genre-bending, The Shadow of the Wind was a master class in character development! Each character is so realistic you cannot help but connect with them and then, each character becomes a main character. Then, it’s the atmosphere and the storytelling. As I said, total immersion. I can’t remember the last time I was so enthralled by a story.

The Midnight Library

ADULT  MAGICAL REALIS|SCIFI
Between life and death there is a library, and within that library, the shelves go on forever. Every book provides a chance to try another life you could have lived. To see how things would be if you had made other choices . . . Would you have done anything different, if you had the chance to undo your regrets?
A dazzling novel about all the choices that go into a life well lived, from the internationally bestselling author of Reasons to Stay Alive and How To Stop Time.
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better?
In The Midnight Library, Matt Haig’s enchanting new novel, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision. Faced with the possibility of changing her life for a new one, following a different career, undoing old breakups, realizing her dreams of becoming a glaciologist; she must search within herself as she travels through the Midnight Library to decide what is truly fulfilling in life, and what makes it worth living in the first place.
