EXCITING BOOKISH NEWS – MARCH 2021

Hola Amigos!

Welcome to another bookish news where I tell you about the books I recently read, what I would be reading next, the new books and ARCs that arrived to BOOKIVERSE, and new releases to check out.

These are the books I read in February, if you click on the covers it will take you to my Goodreads revies:

My favorite book in February was Kindred. It was the perfect read for  Black History Month! It was everything I was expecting and MUCH MORE! Probably one of the best “Black History” books I’ve read. Pretty much everything about the book is terrific. the SciFi/time travel arc, the characters, the writing. But the 5 stars are all because of the theme, the shades of grey of the nuances of “master/slave dynamics” during the plantation era. [read the rest of my review here]

Then Home Is Not a Country was also all kinda splendorous. So realistic and yet so magical! I wasn’t prepared for how poignant, and heartbreaking, and utterly beautiful, and downright perfect it was! [read the rest of my review here]

An American Marriage started fabulous but then I DNF it at 60% because the plot wasn’t going anywhere.

I was super excited about a book by a favorite author. The Initial Insult, but it was just a big disappointment. I was like: “YES! ANOTHER BOOK BY MY FAV AUTHOR!!! WHOHHOOOO! What? ok rewind. What??? Totally confusing. And, unfortunately, I Always Carry My Bones was pretty much the same. This was like putting together a 10K piece puzzle.

AND MARCH STARTED SO WELL TOO!

I’m very much enjoying The Drowning Kind and Spellbreaker and looking forward to this month’s TBR which, based on my reading theme calendar, will be inspired by World Wildlife DayInternational Women’s DayU.S. Women’s History MonthIntentional Day of Happiness, World Poetry DaySpring Equinox (Ostara)Asian Pacific American Heritage Month:
