Sometimes reading is something you do only because you have to or because you know of the many benefits of reading.
But, sometimes you actually enjoy it and it becomes a habit. And, sometimes you enjoy it so much it becomes a passion that can turn into a way of life, or what I like to call a “Literary Lifestyle” and “Literary Culture”. Here are fourteen signs you living a “Literary Lifestyle” and are passionate about “Literary Culture“
- You read a lot. Not only books but pretty much anything you can, like magazines, newspapers, websites, stories, poems, articles, and even food labels and instructions. Whatever is there that can be read, you would likely read it.
- Reading a book is one of your favorite things to do.
- When you can’t read you listen to audiobooks. Other people listen to music when they exercise, cook or clean. You listen to audiobooks.
- You have a list of favorite books, genres and authors.
- You have memorized entire book passages.
- You not only enjoy reading books but you enjoy having them around. Whether you buy or borrow them, you probably have books around you often.
- And that’s because you enjoy books even when you are not reading them. You like looking at books and even just touching them (or even smelling them! Yup, weird but true).
- Therefore, libraries and bookstores are among your favorite places to visit.
- You also enjoy knowing about books. You enjoy reading articles about books and literature and following bookish social media accounts so you can also follow your favorite authors, publishers, and bookish influencers, enjoy pretty book aesthetics, watch bookish videos and listening to podcasts.
- You like bookish things, like annotating supplies, bookmarks, reading journals, and bookshelves. You like them VERY MUCH.
- Book adaptations are among your favorite movies and shows to watch.
- You are usually very good at the literature category in trivia games.
- You enjoy bookish communities and often think of other book lovers as “kindred souls”.
- You like to gift books and talk to others about books because you like to promote reading and encourage others to read (like me!).
